Den speciella och många gånger unika natur, som vi har här på Kanarieöarna, har lockat hit både stora och små produktioner genom åren såsom Moby Dick (Gran Canaria 1956), One million years B.C. (Tenerife 1966), Los abrazos rotos (Lanzarote 2009),  Clash of the Titans (Tenerife och Lanzarote 2010). Även Peter Haber har spelat in en film här 1994.

Just nu håller ännu en filminspelning på att avslutas för Discovery Channels räkning. En serie, i 6 avsnitt,  som kommer att visas nästa år. Scener inspelade från Minas de San José, Ucanca, Chío, El Medano, Mercedesskogen och Punta del Hidalgo kommer att synas i de flesta av avsnitten.
